Gautam Gambhir has said Rinku Singh deserves all the success that comes his way as the youngster continues to impress in international cricket. After a stunning outing in IPL 2023, the left-handed batsman earned his maiden call-up from the Indian team and has totally justified the call so far.
On Tuesday (December 12), he scored his first T20I fifty to help India post a competitive total against South Africa in the second game. Both of India’s openers departed even without their accounts while Tilak Varma failed to capitalise on the start and was dismissed for 29. India were reeling at 55 for 3 when Rinku Singh joined captain Suryakumar Yadav in the middle.
The duo added 70 runs for the fourth wicket before Suryakumar departed. Rinku Singh, however, remained firm at his end and went on to score an unbeaten 68 off 39 balls to help India touch the 180-run mark before rain brought a premature end to the innings. His knock was studded with 9 fours and 2 sixes.
With Rinku Singh impressing once again, Gautam Gambhir was all praise for the youngster. The former India batsman stated that the Kolkata Knight Riders star puts value on each of his knocks as he has worked hard in domestic circuit over the years. He also said that when Rinku performs well, the entire country becomes happy,
“When you come in after a lot of handwork, first-class cricket and you have performed at every single stage, then you value each of your knocks. Then you start every innings like it is your first one, and you won’t take anything for granted.
“Whatever success he gets, I feel, he deserves it. Because Rinku Singh hasn’t got anything easily. When he does well, it’s not just him, but the entire country becomes happy,” Gautam Gambhir told Star Sports.

Gautam Gambhir will have the opportunity to work together with Rinku Singh soon in IPL 2024. The former India batter has been roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders as their mentor. Gambhir had plied his trade for Lucknow Super Giants as a mentor in the last two editions of the IPL.
