India National Cricket Team batting legend Virat Kohli was quite brutal in his assessment of the fans erupting with cheers whenever the batsman before him gets out.

Virat Kohli said that he doesn't like to see the fans cheer when he is about to enter the field following the dismissal of a batter batting before him, and added that MS Dhoni also finds himself in a similar situation.

Virat Kohli goes against his own fans, pulls MS Dhoni into a huge debate

It won't be wrong to say that Kohli is peaking at 37, and he has looked in the form of his life in the last 5-6 innings across ODI and domestic cricket.

An additional touch of aggression and intensity has been seen in Kohli's batting, and he has dominated the bowlers while registering half-centuries and centuries.

In the first ODI of the three-match series against the Kiwis, the chasemaster was at his best as he blasted 93 runs off 91 balls, with 8 fours and 1 six, falling just 7 runs short of his 85th international century.

Speaking after winning the Player of the Match award, Kohli said that he understands the crowd's excitement when he comes out to bat, but doesn't like the cheers at all. He elaborated:

"(When the crowd cheers when he walks out to bat) It is all different timings happens at different games, I’m aware of it, and honestly, I don’t feel good about it. I’ve seen the same thing happen with MS as well. It’s not a great feeling for the guy walking back.

"I understand the crowd’s excitement, but I try to focus on what I need to do and not think too much about it. I’m extremely grateful. It’s a blessing, honestly. To give so much happiness to so many people just by doing what you love - playing the sport you’ve loved since childhood - what more can I ask for? I’m living my dream, and seeing people smile makes me happy."

Kohli further revealed that he generally sends his Player of the Match trophies back home to his mother, who loves collecting them. He explained:

"(How many PoTM awards does he have?) Honestly I have no idea. I just send the trophies back home to my mum in Gurgaon - she loves keeping them. (about him being the second-highest run-scorer in international cricket) If I look back at my whole journey then it is nothing short of a dream come true for me.

"I have always known my abilities, but I also knew I had to work extremely hard to get where I am today. God has blessed me with far more than I could ever ask for, I look back at my journey with a lot of grace and gratitude, and I feel really proud of it."

If there is one person in cricket who can match or even break Sachin Tendulkar's record of 100 international tons, it's Virat Kohli. However, the batting great isn't thinking about it, and his entire focus is on doing his best for the country. Virat Kohli elaborated:

"(Was he thinking about his 54th hundred) If I am being brutally honest, the way I’m playing right now, I’m not thinking about milestones at all. If we were batting first, I probably would’ve gone harder. But in a chase, with a total on the board, I had to play the situation. I felt like hitting more boundaries, but experience kicks in. The only thing on my mind was getting the team into a position where we could win comfortably."
