Fans on Twitter reacted after Punjab Kings won the 65th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Wednesday (15th May) to win their fifth take of the season.

Opting to bat, Rajasthan Royals lost the Yashasvi Jaiswal (4) in the first over, and after that nothing went their way with the bat. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (18) and skipper Sanju Samson (18) started well but couldn’t bat longer as both perished within the span of four balls. 

With the team tumbling at 42 for three, Riyan Parag (48) and Ravichandran Ashwin (28) brought their team back into the game. The Ashwin-Parag duo added 50 runs fourth wicket. But after that, Rajasthan came under pressure yet again as they lost quick wickets. 

Riyan Parag was left stranded at the one end and made sure that he took his team to some runs on the board. He batted well and powered his team to a total of 144 runs. For Punjab Kings, Sam Curran, Harshal Patel, and Rahul Chahar picked two wickets each while Nathan Ellis and Arshdeep Singh bagged one scalp each. 

In the chase, Punjab Kings had a shaky start as Prabhsimran Singh (6) fell in the first over. Rille Rossouw (22) and Jonny Bairstow (14) tried to get going but they too perished early along with Shashank Singh, who bagged a two-ball duck.

However, after that skipper Sam Curran (63*) and Jitesh Sharma (22) joined hands and brought their team into the game. They added 63 runs and brought their side close to target. Curran remained unbeaten in the end as Punjab chased the target by five wickets.
