Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan opened up about the retirement of MS Dhoni from the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that the keeper-batter didn’t tell management about his decision and whatever he decides they will not interfere in that.
One of the hot topics that has been surrounding the headlines is whether MS Dhoni will play in IPL 2025 or not. The keeper-batter has been battling knee issues and with him turning 43 this year, there are high chances that he might retire soon.
After the last season of the IPL, Chennai Super Kings batter Ms Dhoni said that he would be playing the 2024 edition as it would be a gift from his side to the fans. The keeper-batter however, fulfilled his promise and entertained his fans with his brutal power hitting in the end as he hit big sixes.
But with Chennai Super Kings getting eliminated from the tournament, there have been a lot of speculations about what will be the future of MS Dhoni in the league. There have been reports which have claimed that keeper-batter hasn’t decided anything as of yet and might make the decision two months later.
The reports claimed that MS Dhoni will be heading to London first to get treatment for the knee issues. The keeper-batter is keen to play cricket but only if his knee issues allow him otherwise he will be hanging up his boots from the league.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that there weren’t any discussions about MS Dhoni’s retirement in the dressing room. He stated that they don’t ask keeper-batter about his decisions and they won’t interfere. Speaking to Indian Express, he explained:
“There were no discussions in the dressing room about it. We have never asked him about his future and neither has he said anything about it. When he takes a decision, he will inform us, until then we will not interfere.”

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu after the Chennai Super Kings’ exit from the league believes that MS Dhoni won’t be retiring as he will be playing in the next edition of the league. He believes that keeper-batter wants to end his career and high. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:
“I don’t think this is his last game. I just don’t see him wanting to end on this note. He looked a little frustrated, even when he got out. That’s very unlike MS Dhoni, he just wanted to qualify and finish on a high. But you never know with MS Dhoni, he might come back next year.”
In the ongoing MS Dhoni looked in great touch with the bat. Although he came to bat later in the order but he made sure that he entertained his fans with his brutal power-hitting. It remains to be seen what will be the future of the keeper-batter in the league.
