IND vs PAK: PCB Officials Under Scanner For Indulging In Gambling In Colombo – Reports

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) media manager Umar Farooq Kalson and General Manager Adnan Ali are under real scanner and can face serious disciplinary acts, as per PTI. The officials of the governing body were seen visiting a casino in Colombo.

The pictures and videos of Umar Farooq Kalson and Adnan Ali have gone viral on the internet. Both the officials of PCB are currently with the Pakistan team in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023. As per ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit, a Casino is one of the prohibited places as per code of conduct.

Many fans and pundits have lashed out at PCB officials for their antics. However, following the backlash Umar Farooq Kalson and Adnan Ali cleared that they had only gone to the Casino to have dinner. A writer revealed that they could be in danger and their clarification isn’t justified.

“Who goes to a Casino to have food. Who goes to a gambling joint to have food. Who are they trying to fool,” cricket writer Omair Alavi said.

A source also added that PCB’s disciplinary committee would be hard-pressed to ignore the incident despite the clarification from the two officials.

IND vs PAK: PCB Writes To ACC, Seeking Reimbursement For Losses Due To Rains In Sri Lanka

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written a formal statement to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and has requested them to reimburse the losses that have faced due to the matches getting washed out due to rain. Zaka Ashraf sent a letter to Jay Shah.

The letter by PCB read that the Asian Cricket Council will have to take responsibility for the washed-out matches. They added that decisions made by them defy logic.

“The Weather Forecast could not have possibly changed within a span of few minutes. What is the point of pandering to spectator’s bookings (that too only HA of the stadium capacity) if the game is washed out? The reasoning defies logic.

“Who will be responsible for the loss of gate receipts to the PCB and the adverse impact on the ACC Event’s brand value should the matches be rained out in Colombo? The ACC will have to take responsibility for the washed out matches, incremental costs if any, and also reimburse PCB for the losses of gate revenue.”

The rains in Sri Lanka have yet again raised questions over the venue of the Asia Cup 2023. The much-anticipated game between India and Pakistan was washed out and also the weather curtailed the game between India and Nepal.

If this was not enough, the match between India and Pakistan in the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2023 has been marred by rain. The match will move to reserve day on 11th September.
