IND vs AUS Match Preview– 1st ODI, 2023. The first IND vs AUS ODI will be played in Mohali on September 22. The match starts at 1.30 pm IST. The second ODI will be played in Ondore (September 24, Sunday) while the third in Rajkot (September 27, Wednesday).

This ODI series is the perfect dress rehearsal for both teams ahead of the big World Cup game on October 8. All three matches will be played in batting-friendly venues. A lot of runs are expected to be scored with big hitters on both sides.

Australia are heading into this series after their 3-2 loss in the ODI series against South Africa. They won the first two games and ended up losing the next three to lose the series. The Aussie won the last ODI series they played against India earlier this year 2-1.

India, on the other hand, are fresh from their victorious Asia Cup 2023 campaign. This was India’s eighth Asia Cup title while the second under Rohit Sharma. India and Australia are meeting for the second time in an ODI series this year.

So far the two teams have played 146 ODIs with Australia winning 82 and India 54 matches. In India, out of 67 matches, the Aussies have won 32 games while Team India 30. Five matches ended with no result. India would look for their second win against Australia in Mohali. The venue has not been a lucky one for the Indians in ODIS against the Aussies.

India

KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in the first two games with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli rested. Kuldeep Yadav is also rested for the first two games. Ravichandran Ashwin has been recalled into the side in the absence of Axar Patel who is missing the first two games due to an injury. Washington Sundar retains his place in the Asia Cup 2023 final.

All eyes will be on Mohd Siraj and whether he can replicate his Asia Cup 2023 final performance in the first IND vs AUS ODI. Eyes will also be on Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer who are expected to be in the Indian playing XI in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya. Jasprit Bumrah who has recovered fully will have an important role to play against Australia in the series.

Without Kohli and Rohit in the Indian XI, Australia would fancy winning the first two games. They have won four out of the five ODIs played against the Men in Blue in Mohali. With a full-strength squad available and India missing their two best batters, Australia would like to dominate India.
