India National Cricket Team’s young opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was involved in a heated on-field confrontation with the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team fast bowler Asitha Fernando during the second Test between India and Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
The incident took place on Day 1, and now the Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel has revealed what happened during the clash and explained why Jaiswal reacted angrily.

Dhruv Jurel shared that Yashasvi Jaiswal was quietly walking back towards the dressing room after getting dismissed. The young Indian batter was not creating any trouble or saying anything while leaving the field, but the Sri Lankan fast bowler had abused Jaiswal, which made him angry.
Jurel explained that Jaiswal would not remain silent if someone provoked him. He also made it clear that the young Indian batter was not someone who usually started such confrontations.
Dhruv Jurel told Aakash Chopra on his YouTube show ‘Baith & Bol’: “When Yashasvi got out, he was quietly walking towards the dressing room. He didn't say anything. You can see the footage here. He turns around. Actually, he was abusing him. He was abusing him. He told me about it. He said, 'Show me normal aggression. It's okay. You took my wicket. You deserve it. But you can't abuse me’.”

Dhruv Jurel also spoke about Jaiswal's personality and his behaviour on the cricket field. According to him, Jaiswal usually remains focused on his batting and stays in his own zone rather than getting involved in unnecessary arguments.

Chopra added, “If you give him, he'll give it back. 100%. He's never started before. I've never seen him start. He doesn't care. He's in his zone. He's batting. There's no such thing in the Indian team. If someone else does it, we won't spare them. If you do it, we won't keep quiet either.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal's physical fight with Asitha Fernando
The incident between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando eventually resulted in disciplinary action from the International Cricket Council (ICC). Both players were fined 25 percent of their match fees and handed one demerit point for their involvement in the confrontation.
The incident took place during the 17th over of India's first innings in Colombo last month. Jaiswal smashed Fernando for three boundaries in the over, but the Sri Lankan pacer had the last laugh by dismissing him for 45 runs on the final delivery.
After taking the wicket, Fernando gave Jaiswal an aggressive send-off. Jaiswal initially walked towards the pavilion but turned back to confront the bowler. The argument quickly became heated, with Jaiswal's helmet visor and forehead making physical contact with Fernando's head.
Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva and other players immediately stepped in to separate the two cricketers. The ICC slammed their confrontation and fined them for “inappropriate physical contact”.
