Uttar Pradesh fast bowler Yash Dayal is set to represent Chhattisgarh as a guest player in the 2026-27 domestic season. The left-arm pacer's No Objection Certificate (NOC) is being processed by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association while he trains with Chhattisgarh's preseason camp in Alur, Karnataka.
Dayal will return to domestic cricket after spending more than a year away from competitive cricket. He was least seen in action for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 final. The 27-year-old has taken 84 first-class wickets, 36 List A wickets, and 66 T20 wickets during his career with Uttar Pradesh.
Yash Dayal Awaits NOC After Missing IPL 2026 Season
Yash Dayal has not played a competitive match since the IPL 2025 final, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) to win their maiden title. RCB retained the left-arm pacer ahead of IPL 2026, but he did not join the squad and missed the entire season because of his situation.
"It wasn't in Dayal's or RCB's best interests to pick him due to his personal situation," RCB director of cricket Mo Bobat said while explaining the pacer's absence.
Yash Dayal was retained by Gorakhpur Lions for the UP T20 League in June 2026 and trained with the squad before the tournament. However, he was left out of the franchise's final 18-member squad after the auction.
The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) did not comment on his exclusion. Dayal decided to move to Chhattisgarh for the upcoming domestic season.
Yash Dayal, Jayant Yadav and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja Join Chhattisgarh as Guest Players
The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) has selected Yash Dayal, Jayant Yadav, and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja as its three guest players for the 2026-27 season. The trio has already joined the team's pre-season camp in Alur and is expected to strengthen the squad across all formats.
Jayant, who represented Puducherry last season, has played six Tests and two ODIs for India. The off-spinner has taken 272 first-class wickets and scored 3,171 runs, including three centuries and 15 half-centuries.
Dharmendrasinh Jadeja has claimed 423 wickets at an average of 26.25 in 100 first-class matches, including 26 five-wicket hauls and also scored 2,123 first-class runs. He has taken 121 List A wickets and 65 T20 wickets and was part of Saurashtra's two Ranji Trophy-winning teams.
Amay Khurasiya Oversees Chhattisgarh's Pre-Season Camp
Chhattisgarh's pre-season fitness camp in Alur, Karnataka, is being supervised by newly appointed head coach Amay Khurasiya. The former India batter played 12 ODIs between 1999 and 2001 and scored more than 7,000 first-class runs during his domestic career for Madhya Pradesh.
Khurasiya previously guided Kerala to their maiden Ranji Trophy final in the 2024-25 season. While final selection will depend on performances in the fitness camp, the association is confident that Dayal, Jayant, and Jadeja have the experience and fitness to make an impact.
Chhattisgarh are expected to announce their squad by the second week of August. If selected, the three guest players are likely to represent the team in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy during the 2026-27 domestic season.
