Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's India debut vs Ireland all but confirmed: Report

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Sachin Tendulkar

Left-handed batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is reportedly set to make his much-awaited debut for the senior India men's team. The 15-year-old batter has quickly emerged as one of the brightest young talents in world cricket and will make his international debut in the Ireland tour, as per a report in the Times of India (TOI).

India's two-match T20I series against Ireland will begin on June 26 in Belfast, with the second match scheduled for June 28. Vaibhav earned his maiden India call-up after an outstanding IPL 2026 campaign, where his fearless stroke play and explosive batting made him one of the standout performers of the tournament.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Set for India Debut Against Ireland

According to Times of India journalist Gaurav Gupta, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is likely to be included in India's playing XI for the first T20I against Ireland. If he makes his debut, the youngster will become the youngest player ever to represent India in international cricket.

"On June 26, #VaibhavSooryavanshi is likely to make his international debut in the 1st T20 vs Ireland at Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast, which has a crowd capacity of 4200. Incidentally, #RohitSharma made his India debut at the same venue, back in an ODI in June 2007!" Gupta wrote on X.

Vaibhav has the opportunity to break the long-standing record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who made his India debut at 16. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma also made his international debut at Stormont in Belfast during an ODI against Ireland in June 2007.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Makes Another Strong Statement Before India Debut

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become one of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket. He became the youngest batter to score a century in the tournament and the fastest Indian to reach a hundred. The left-handed batter also impressed for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Sooryavanshi continued his excellent form with a match-winning century in the Under-19 World Cup final against England, earning the Player of the Match award. His performances across formats quickly established him as one of India's most promising young cricketers.

Vaibhav enjoyed an outstanding IPL 2026 season with Rajasthan Royals. He scored 776 runs, won the Orange Cap, and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Season. His aggressive batting played a key role in Rajasthan Royals reaching Qualifier 2.

He smashed a blistering 94 off 29 balls, including 10 fours and eight sixes, for India A against Sri Lanka A in the Tri-Nation Series final. The team recorded the victory in the summit clash.

Cricket Ireland Clears Security Concerns Ahead of India-Ireland T20I Series

Cricket Ireland has confirmed that the upcoming T20I series against India will go ahead as scheduled following a security review in Belfast. Concerns were raised earlier this month after reports of civil disturbances in the city, but officials have stated that there is no threat to either match.

The board also said it has received assurances that no protests or demonstrations are expected to affect the series. Additional security measures will be in place, allowing the matches to proceed as planned.

The Indian squad is scheduled to travel to Belfast via London on June 23 to begin preparations. This will be the first time India and Ireland have faced each other in Belfast. The matches will be played at Stormont Cricket Ground, which has a capacity of around 4,200 spectators.
