According to news agencies ANI and IANS, positive updates have emerged regarding the medical condition of Lungi Ngidi. The DC fast bowler returned to the Delhi Capitals team hotel after being discharged from BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital.

"Lungi Ngidi is doing well and has now returned to the DC team hotel in New Delhi. Him being sent back to the hotel after being discharged from the hospital is a positive indication of his recovery, and the franchise medical staff will continue to take good care of him,” sources told IANS.

During the post-match press conference, Venugopal Rao shared an update about Ngidi’s condition. The Delhi Capitals' Director of Cricket stated that the head injury did not appear serious, bringing relief to fans and teammates.

"I think it is not serious. We will update, but nothing looks serious," Venugopal said during the post-match press conference.

Furthermore, the Indian Premier League governing council issued an official update confirming that Ngidi is in stable condition. Delhi Capitals chairman Kiran Kumar Grandhi also visited the hospital to meet him before the South African pacer was cleared to leave safely.

What Happened on the Field

The incident took place during the third over of the run chase. Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel bowled to Priyansh Arya, who played a lofted shot into the outfield. Lungi Ngidi ran back while tracking the ball.

While attempting the catch, Ngidi lost his balance and fell heavily backward. He hit the back of his head and neck on the turf without getting a touch on the ball, leading to a worrying situation on the field.

Ngidi remained motionless, which caused immediate concern among players and fans. Medical staff rushed in quickly and fitted a neck brace, as he was unable to move his head. The match was halted for around fifteen minutes.

An ambulance was brought onto the field for the first time in IPL history. Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani and Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting were also present as medical staff carefully moved Ngidi into the vehicle for further treatment.

Before the injury, Ngidi had been an important part of the Delhi Capitals bowling attack. He has taken 7 wickets in 7 matches this season, with an economy rate of 8.70 and a bowling average of 29.42.
