Indian cricketer doping scandal: Indian cricketer Rajan Kumar, a left-arm pacer who stars for Uttarakhand, failed the dope Test ahead of their upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy clash and has been handed a provisional suspension by the National Anti-Doping Agency.
Cricketers failing the dope Test is a very rare feat in the field of sports, but this Indian cricketer doping scandal has shocked the BCCI. Dope Test failures are usually found more in track events and such events that require a momentary spark of energy and power, but that is not useful in cricket.
Formerly, Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Anshula Rao and Mumbai opening batter Prithvi Shaw are among the rarest of Indian cricketers who were found guilty of doping in 2022 and 2019, respectively. Other Indian athletes suspended over the doping-related issues include Gaurav Patel (athletics), Khushboo Kumari (weightlifting), Achalveer Karwasra (boxing), Siddhant Sharma (polo) and Dhanalakshmi Sekar (Sprinter).

Uttarakhand left-arm fast bowler Rajan Kumar's name came into prominence as he failed a dope Test ahead of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy match for Uttarakhand against Sikkim. Kumar had last played for Uttarakhand back in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Delhi.
The 29-year-old pacer tested positive for drugs in his bloodstream, which included two of the most widely used performance-enhancing drugs, Drostanolone and Metenolone. Both these drugs are Anabolic-Androgenic Steroids and play a role in enhancing performance and strength, respectively. The drug Clomifene was also found, which is a medication for infertility, but can increase mass and strength in males due to its anti-estrogenic properties.
Citing all these reports, his intent has been deemed malicious, as a result of which the player has been handed a provisional suspension by the NADA of India.
