Veteran Team India opener Rohit Sharma, who made his return to domestic one-day cricket earlier this week, was dismissed for a golden duck in Mumbai’s round 2 Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Uttarakhand. The 50-over match is underway at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday, December 26.
Rohit made his return to domestic 50-over cricket in emphatic fashion. Playing his first Vijay Hazare Trophy match in seven years, the Mumbai opening batter scored 155 runs from just 94 balls against Sikkim. He equalled David Warner’s record for the most 150-plus scores in the format, with both batters on nine.

However, Rohit Sharma failed to make an impact with the bat. Opening the batting for Mumbai, he was dismissed without scoring in the very first over of the match.
The right-handed batter tried to play an attacking shot straight away. He mistimed a pull shot, and the ball went straight to the fielder. Rohit was caught, leaving Mumbai in early trouble.
At the other end, Angkrish Raghuvanshi played carefully and watched the dismissal unfold. The early wicket came as a big disappointment for the crowd, who were hoping to see Rohit bat longer.
Fans Hoped Rohit Sharma Would Deliver Again in Clash vs Uttarakhand
After his big innings earlier in the tournament, fans were expecting another strong show from Rohit Sharma, but it did not happen this time. A large number of supporters reached the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur early on Friday just to watch him bat.
When Rohit was dismissed cheaply, the mood in the stands changed. Some fans even started leaving the stadium as soon as he walked back to the pavilion. They had come mainly to see him in action. Notably, it is his final match in the tournament, as he will now prepare for the New Zealand series.
Earlier, the crowd was excited after Uttarakhand captain Kunal Chandela won the toss and chose to bowl. However, Bora surprised Rohit early and got him out quickly, ending the excitement in the stands.
