The Indian skipper, Shubman Gill, has lost yet another toss. He has been consistent about losing tosses since the start of his Test career as India's Captain. After losing yet another toss, he made a quirky claim, hoping to win the toss at the WTC final.
India initiates the proceedings for the 2-match Test series against South Africa, with the first Test starting today at the Eden Gardens Cricket Stadium in Kolkata. The South Africans are the defending champions of the WTC and come from a drawn series against Pakistan.
India, on the other hand, is currently placed third in the WTC points table and comes from a dominant red-ball series triumph against the West Indies at home. Under their new captain, they have looked determined to set their hands on their third WTC Final spot.
Shubman Gill makes an audacious claim after losing yet another toss
The current Indian skipper might easily be called the most unfortunate skipper to have ever led in the game of cricket. Shubman Gill took over Test captaincy and has led India in 7 Tests as of now, losing more than three times more than he has won in tosses.
Losing another toss against South Africa's Temba Bavuma, Shubman admitted to the Match presenter that he hopes to win only one toss that is in the WTC Final.
Shubman Gill said, "Hopefully, the only toss I win is the WTC final."
