Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis gave his best for his team in the game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Eliminator between the teams took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday (22nd May).
Faf du Plessis didn't have a great night with the bat against Rajasthan Royals but he made sure that he gave his best on the field. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper came up with a brilliant effort during the fag end of the game that almost tilted the game in his team's favour.
Rajasthan Royals batter Shimron Hetmyer was going great guns with the bat in the end and put Royal Challengers Bengaluru on the backfoot. However, Mohammed Siraj picked two wickets in the single over including the scalp of the Carribean batter to bring his team back in the game.
But the credit for that wicket goes to Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis, who took a brilliant catch. Mohammed Siraj bowled a full delivery angling across to the middle and leg to which the batter went for a flick and got a leading edge.
The ball flew up and Faf du Plessis, who was the covers, ran back. He overran it but adjusted well as the ball came down. He kept his eye on the ball and took a magical catch to bring his team back into the game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Shimron Hetmyer made a solid impact on the game and with his cameo changed the game in his team's favour. The Caribbean batter, who was returning from the injury, played an inning of 26 runs off just 14 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 185 and slammed 3 fours and 1 six in his innings.
However, after he got out, Rovman Powell played a magnificent innings. The West Indies skipper played a match-winning innings of unbeaten 16 runs off 8 balls. He slammed two fours and one six in the 19th over to Lockie Ferguson and won the game for his team by 4 wickets.
It was a situation where you had to put the bat to the ball - Rovman Powell
After the game, Rovman Powell talked about his innings and stated that it wasn't a difficult situation but that he needed to put bat to ball. He also talked about his fielding effort and taking 4 catches, saying that he wanted to put his body on the line. He stated:
"It (situation) wasn't that difficult. It was a situation where you had to put bat to ball, thankfully i minimized the pressure. I wanted to tell him to be positive rather than look for singles and unfortunately, he got out. (On his batting position) If it was up to me I would take it a little bit earlier. Having said that we have quality batters and you have to accept the role and I am looking forward to contribute more in this role.
"Sometimes you need things like these (Four catches). First catch (off Faf) was the one that let me take four catches. If I had put that down, it would be a haan, tough day in the field kind of situation. When you have good players like Faf and Virat you want those half chances to come to you. You put the body on the line. We have been playing good cricket overall this season, last few games we messed up. Guys are looking forward to playing in Chennai," he concluded.
