Mumbai Indians were asked to bat first and it was a horrible outing for them with the bat at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and didn't look settled at the crease.
Birthday boy Rohit Sharma (4) perished in the second over and his wickets opened the floodgates for the team. Suryakumar Yadav (10), Tilak Varma (7), and Hardik Pandya (0) perished after that as Mumbai Indians were left tottering at 27/4 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Ishan Kishan (32), who was left stranded at the other end, played a crucial innings for his team to get the team on the back. Nehal Wadhera (46) on the other played a great innings as the duo added 53 runs for the 5th wicket to keep their team in the game.
Wadhera brought his team back into the game and along with Tim David added 32 runs. After the left-hander got out, the Australian batter made sure that he provided a solid finish to the team. He scored 35 runs off 18 balls as Mumbai Indians ended with a total of 144 runs on the board.
For Lucknow Super Giants, Mohsin Khan was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/36. Apart from him, Marcus Stoinis, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mayank Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi picked one wicket each. Based on the collective effort they restricted Mumbai Indians to a total of under 150.

Lucknow Super Giants were off to a shaky start with the bat. Debutant Arshin Kulkarni bagged a golden duck as Nuwan Thushara trapped him in lbw in the first over. However, after that skipper KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis put their team in a dominating position.
The duo added 58 runs before Rahul perished for 28 runs. Stoins made sure that he carried his good form and slammed a magnificent half-century. He ended with 62 runs before Nicholas Pooran (14*) and Krunal Pandya took their team home with 4 wickets in hand despite Mumbai making a slight comeback.
