Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious in the 23rd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Punjab Kings on Tuesday (9th April). They outclassed the opposition by two runs at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad were asked to bat first in Chandigarh. Travis Head (21) and Abhishek Sharma (16) yet again took them off to a flying start with their aggressive batting. But after that things changed drastically for the visitors as they faced a terrible collapse. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad was reduced to 100/5 with all the big guns back in back. It was then that Nitish Kumar Reddy (64) bailed his team out of trouble with his brilliant half-century. Abdul Samad (25) supported him as the duo put on 50 runs. 

Thanks to their effort, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a total of 182 on board. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh was the pick of bowlers with his figures of four for 29. Apart from him Sam Curran and Harshal Patel also picked two wickets each while Rabada picked one. 

Punjab Kings had a terrible start to their innings as they lost three wickets for just 20 runs With Shikhar Dhawan (14), Jonny Bairstow, and Prabhsimran Singh (6) back in the hut. Sam Curran (29) and Sikander Raza (28) played handy knocks for the team and kept their team in the hunt but their wickets put PBKS under pressure. 

Shashank Singh (46*) and Ashutosh Sharma (33*) tried their best and revived the hopes of the fans. With 29 runs needed off the last over, they gave their best and took the team close but fell short of the target by just two runs.
