Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli joined the celebrations of the Women’s team after they won the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024. The Smriti Mandhana-led side scripted history at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) to lift the trophy for the first time in franchise cricket. They played a magnificent brand of cricket throughout the tournament and when it mattered the most they dominated the opposition and clinched the title.
RCB were asked to field first and they didn’t have a dream start with the ball. But with the way they pulled things back was terrific to see. From 64/0, they bundled out Delhi Capitals for just 113 runs and didn’t let them bat their full quota of 20 overs.
Shreyanka Patil was the star with the ball as she picked 4 wickets whereas Sophie Molineux bagged three wickets as well. It was a superlative bowling performance from their end as it helped them to end the title drought for RCB in league cricket.
With the bat, they took a cautious approach but made sure that they didn’t let the game drift away. Sophie Devine (31) and Smriti Mandhana (31) added 49 runs for the opening before the former got out in the 9th over.
Ellyse Perry walked out to bat at No.3 and made sure that she yet again played a vital knock for the team in the tournament final. She scored unbeaten 35 runs and made sure that she took her team home. Richa Ghosh (17*) supported her well as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the game by 8 wickets to claim their first-ever title in the league.
After the win as the players of the RCB women were celebrating the win, there was a special entrant in their celebration. Virat Kohli was seen video-calling the women’s team. The India batter was seen congratulating Smriti Mandhana and others.

“Superwomen” – Virat Kohli’s message after RCB Women won the WPL 2024
As Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Women won the final of the WPL 2024, Virat Kohli couldn’t stop himself from praising the women’s team of the franchise on social media accounts. He shared the Champions poster on his Instagram account and wrote: “Superwomen”.

As the Women’s team won the WPL 2024, the pressure will be on Virat Kohli and the other men’s cricketers to win the IPL now. The WPL win might have changed the fortunes of the team and the franchise now would be hoping to win their first-ever tile in the Indian Premier League as well.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will begin from 22nd March. Royal Challengers Bangalore will play the tournament opener against Chennai Super Kings. The match will be played at the Chepauk Stadium on 22nd March. Virat Kohli will be vital for the team this time as he will have to play a massive role if RCB has to win. The league also marks his comeback after missing the England Test series due to family reasons.
