All-rounder Marcus Stoinis was on the receiving end of a bizarre dismissal in the ongoing SA20 2024 game between Durban Super Giants and Mumbai Indians Cape Town. The match between the two teams is taking place at Newlands Park in Cape Town.

Marcus Stoinis came to bat when the Durban Super Giants lost Heinrich Klaasen. The all-rounder tried to get going but he couldn’t as bagged an unusual dismissal and got out after having a short start against Mumbai Indians Cape Town.

During the 5th ball of the 15th over, Olly Stone bowled a pacy short delivery. Marcus Stoinis tried to play the pull but got hurried on his pull shot. The ball lobbed up after hitting the handle of the all-rounder’s bat and went behind square, where Mumbai Indians Cape Town bowler Kagiso Rabada took a catch.

Marcus Stoinis couldn’t control the downswing of the bat and in the process ended up hitting the stumps. He couldn’t believe what happened and was dejected with the way he got out. Here’s the video of his dismissal.

Even if the bat didn’t hit stumps, he would’ve been out because Kagiso Rabada took the catch at the backward square leg. After removing Marcus Stoinis, the pacer was pumped up as he pushed the batter with his outrageous pace and bounce. He returned with the figures of 4/37 in his quota of 4 overs and also bowled one maiden over in his innings.

Marcus Stoinis scored just 11 runs off 10 balls. He couldn’t make the kind of impact he wanted and managed to hit just one boundary in his innings. His wicket left Durban Super Giants tottering at 94/5 inside the 15 overs. But they made a great recovery after that and made sure they got decent total on the board.

After Marcus Stoinis got out, Wiaan Mulder took the onus to himself. The all-rounder played a magnificent innings and made sure that he took his team close to the fighting total. He played a breathtaking stroke in his innings and put the opposition under pressure.

Wiaan Mulder ended with the innings of unbeaten 38 runs off 20 balls. He batted with a strike rate of 190 and also hit 6 boundaries in his innings. His knock made sure that Durban Super Giants posted a decent total of 157 runs on the board.

Earlier, Matthew Breetzke (48) played a vital hand at the top of top of the order. Tony de Zorzi (20) played a decent hand along with JJ Smuts (26). For Mumbai Indians Cape Town, George Linde was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/15 whereas Thomas Kaber also bagged two scalps.

Naveen-ul-Haq then made sure he gave a great start to the Durban Super Giants. He removed in-form batter Ryan Rickelton (13) in the third over. The Afghanistan pacer’s blow left the opposition tottering at 17/1. DSG would be hoping to keep the momentum and defend the target.
