The game between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023 at R. Premadasa Stadium has kept everyone on their toes. Sri Lanka were off to a solid start in their chase but Shadab Khan brought his side back into the game.
Pakistan set a target of 252 runs for Sri Lanka to make it into the final of the Asia Cup 2023. The Dasun Shanaka-led side were off the flyer as Kusal Perera, who replaced Dimuth Karunaratne in the team, took the attack to Pakistani bowlers and played some staggering strokes.
However, his stay at the crease was cut short by Kusal Perera by the brilliance of Shadab Khan on the field. It was during the second ball of the third over when Zaman Khan bowled a delivery closer to the off stump. The Sri Lankan batter chopped it towards the backward point off the under-edge.
Pathum Nissanka, who was a non-striker, wanted a quick single and took off. Kusal Perera was hesitant to run but ran in the end. Shadsb Khan came in running from the backward point and picked the ball in a flash to hit the bullseye at the bowler’s end.
Kusal Perera put in the dive but he was well short of his crease as such was the fiery throw from Shadab Khan. Here’s the video of the full incident:

PAK vs SL: Shadab Khan Removes Pathum Nissanka to Give His Team Second Breakthrough
Not only the runout, Shadab Khan then provided his team with another breakthrough as he removed Pathum Nissanka as well to bring the game back in balance. The leg-spinner removed him at the crucial juncture at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Shadab Khan bowled a flighted delivery to which Pathum Nissanka came down the track to hit it over the bowler’s head. But he didn’t the kind of elevation he needed and gave a catch to the bowler. The batter ended with the knock of 29 runs off 44 balls.
