World Cup 2023 – Delhi schedule: Full list of fixtures and match timings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium

ICC announced the revised schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup on August 9. Here is the World Cup 2023 schedule for Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The World Cup fever is all set to grip the Indian subcontinent after 12 years. In 2011, India became the first team to win ODI cricket’s ultimate prize on home venue.

A significant passage of time has passed since then as India seeking to end a 10-year-long ICC trophy drought. They last won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni’s leadership.

The 2023 World Cup will begin on October 5 with a clash between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ten sides will compete across 45 round-robin league matches to secure semi-final berths in Mumbai and Kolkata. Ahmedabad will also host the epic final on November 19.

Ten stadiums across the nation will host the World Cup. Apart from the three stadiums mentioned above, Delhi, Chennai, Pune, Lucknow, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru are the other hosts.

Formerly the Feroz Shah Kotla, the Arun Jaitley Stadium is the home venue for the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). Founded in 1883, it hosted World Cup matches in 1987, 1996 and 2011, and will host five matches at the World Cup.

The highest ODI total in Delhi remains the West Indies’ 330-8 against the Netherlands in the 2011 edition. In the same tournament, Player-of-the-Tournament Yuvraj Singh claimed 2-43 and made a 73-ball 51 not out against the Dutch. Delhi also witnessed AB de Villiers smash 107 not out against the West Indies.

In 1987, Mohammad Azharuddin (54 not out in 45 balls, 3-19) starred in Australia’s only defeat of the edition. And in 1996, Sanath Jayasuriya famously hit Manoj Prabhakar into retirement.

India are scheduled to play a match at this ground on October 11 against Afghanistan. Delhi’s other matches are on October 7, 15, 25 and November 6.
