The Women’s Hundred 2023 got underway on August 1. Here’s the full list of captains for each of the eight Women’s Hundred teams this year.

The Women’s Hundred 2023 got off to a solid start with Southern Brave beating Trent Rockets by 23 runs in the first game of the season on August 1 at Trent Bridge. Being put in to bat after losing the toss, Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt gave the Southern Brave a strong start, registering a 65-run opening partnership.

Mandhana scored 55 off 36 balls, taking her team to 157-6 off their 100 balls before Mary Taylor led the way with the ball, conceding just 18 off 20 balls and taking three wickets to restrict Trent Rockets to 130-7.

Oval Invincibles, who won the previous edition of the Women’s Hundred in 2022, will start their campaign on August 2 against the London Spirit, while Birmingham Phoenix and Northern Superchargers will face each other on August 3 to complete the first round of fixtures.

Each team will play eight games in the league stage. The team finishing at the top of the table after the group stage will qualify directly for the Final, while the second- and third-ranked teams will compete in the Eliminator to decide the second finalist. The final will take place on August 27 at Lord’s just before the Final of the men’s competition.

Among the players leading the eight teams in the Women’s competition include England captain Heather Knight, ace left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, fast bowler Anya Shrubsole, and several others.

The only overseas player to lead a side in the Women’s Hundred 2023 is former South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk, who will be continuing her role as the Oval Invincibles skipper.
