Star India women’s team batter, Mithali Raj backed Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blues ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 which is going to be held in India. Mithali said that India will get an advantage since they are the host and and already know the condition.
All the Indian cricket fans will be hopelessly waiting to see Rohit Sharma’s side end their 10-year-long drought of not winning an ICC trophy, which will definitely keep the skipper under pressure since he can’t make any mistakes while decision-making making which can cost them the trophy.
India’s last ICC trophy win came under MS Dhoni’s leadership when the skipper led the side to get a hold of the ICC Champions trophy on June 23rd, 2013. Following this India failed to win any ICC event even after reaching the final.
Rohit Sharma-led India will start their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign against Australia on October 8th at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, the extravaganza tournament will start on October 5th and the inaugural match will be between England and New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

While speaking during the finals of the Women’s League in Srinagar, Mithali Raj said that as a cricket fan, she wants the Men in Blues to play in the final and it is a big opportunity since India are the host nation and the conditions will be in favor.
Raj added that if the host nation tries to do well then they will get a chance to get a hold of the ODI World Cup.
“As an Indian cricket fan, I would want India to play in the final. It is a big opportunity. We are the host nation and the conditions are in our favour. If they (team) do well, we will get another opportunity to lift the World Cup,” former India women’s team skipper said.
Mithali Raj further lauded the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for promoting women’s cricket and players in the country, especially in the last two to three years.
Mithali appreciated the Women’s Premier League and said that it helped the player’s sports profile.
“For the past two to three years, the BCCI has been making a lot of efforts to promote the women’s game and women players. The WIPL this year has also gone well and it is good for the sports profile. We hope that many players will come up from the state in the next two to three years,” Mithali Raj added.
Meanwhile, the most awaited match in the ODI World Cup will take place on October 14th between Rohit Sharma-led India and Pakistan at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
